Delta women on Wednesday released praises on the member representing Ethiope West Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon Erhiatake Ibori, describing her as an articulate lawmaker.

“Hon. Erhiatake Ibori is articulate and adept at explaining complex issues in a simple way. She is an astute legislator. She participates actively in the legislative processes of the House. Her contributions on legislative matters have helped in creating a new template on budgetary management in the state” they said.

Responding to a news report in an online news media on Hon Ibori, the women said the legislator rose effectively to the occasion during the valedictory ceremony held in honour of Late Felix Ibru.

“There was no murmur. And with the cream of the state’s social and political elite, who gathered to pay tribute to Olorogun Felix Ibru in Government House Asaba, Erhiatake Ibori delivered her father’s tribute with a voice capable of putting several world class broadcasters to shame. Amidst intermittent applause from the audience, she delivered her speech. Her presentation held everybody spell bound and got them up in standing ovation, moments after she was back on her seat” Spokesperson of the Delta Women for Good Governance Forum (DWFGGF) said.

The women, who extolled the charming qualities of Hon Ibori, described her as a pride to Delta State.

“Hon Ibori’s conduct, mannerism, diction, wits and total command of the environment depicted her training, family background and exposure” they said.

In a statement in Asaba by Mrs. Omamoke Omene, the women attributed Ibori’s victory in the 2015 House of Assembly election in Ethiope West constituency to natural campaigning style coupled with her projects.

“Chief James Ibori is a household name in Delta State. Erhiatake Ibori participated in the Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emerged as the party’s flagbearer and won the House of Assembly election on merit.

They advised online publishers to concentrate on issues involving practical journalism.

“The news report doesn’t describe the Erhiatake we know or the intelligent lawmaker we are working with every day,” the women said.

The women also urged online journalists to desist from gossips aimed at ridiculing elected members of the Delta State House of Assembly”

Ibru was an achiever – Delta Speaker

“This is a sad day for Delta State”, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya said of Olorogun Felix Ibru’s death Tuesday morning.

Igbuya who spoke at the Day of Tribute for the first executive governor of Delta State said Ibru contributed a lot to the uplifting of the Urhobo man, Delta State and Nigeria.

“The country has indeed lost one of its most gifted citizens” Igbuya said in Asaba

He described the death of the former governor as a terrible blow to the political class and Nigerians in general.

“Olorogun Felix Ovudoroye Ibru was a man whose name spoke volume. He was imbued with gratitude, generosity, virtue, vision, ideas, spirituality, integrity and humility. He was, without doubt an architect first, before any other thing. It was however on the political turf that he etched his name on marble. Indeed, Senator Ibru left indelible prints on the Nigerian political space. He contributed greatly to the growth of the Nigerian State.

Together with Chief Simeon Ebonka, they formed a strong partnership and set the template for the development of Delta State.

Igbuya, a publicity secretary of the defunct Social Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State said  the ex-governor had an unusual capacity for personal industry.

“Olorogun Felix Ibru was a very humble person with an exciting sense of humour”

He continued “Ibru death surely deprives the nation of one of its best minds. I however take solace in the fact that the first democratically elected governor of Delta State lived an inspired and fulfilled life by the manner he deployed his professional expertise towards the development of Nigeria. He will definitely be missed by friends, family, associates, colleagues and all those whose lives he positively touched in one way or the other. He will forever be remembered as one who came, and did his bit in a very great and impressive way. He will also be remembered by Nigerians, particularly Deltans as the man who reached the pinnacle of power but refused to be intoxicated by it”.

“I sincerely join the entire family of Senator Ibru, his people at Agbarha-Otor and all patriots of Nigeria in celebrating the life of a great Nigerian citizen. I also bid our great leader and mentor a respectful farewell and a sweet repose”.
