APC will win in 2019 – South-South leaders
- Condemn calls for Oyegun’s removal
South-South leaders on Friday commended the courage and patriotism of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, insisting the country’s ruling party will win the next general election.
The leaders also came down hard on the suspended national deputy publicity secretary of APC, Mr. Timi Frank.
“It is sad to note that rather than addressing the cogent issues raised by Oyegun, Timi Frank chose to attack the national chairman of the ruling party for his sincere views about the chances of APC in 2019 and the defection of former vice President, Atiku Abubakar”
Chairman of South-South Front (SSF), Chief John Harry in a statement released in Asaba lambasted Timi Frank for pushing the real issues aside and employing sentiments and blackmail to explain the defection of Atiku Abubakar to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The people of South-South are solidly behind Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. He has distinguished himself as an honest, competent and God fearing Nigerian”
The leaders expressed surprise at the ignorance of Timi Frank about the intricacies of running a political party in Nigeria
They praised the national chairman for his adherence to internal democracy.
“Chief John Odigie-Oyegun deserves a pat on the back for saving the nation’s democracy from anti-democratic forces, steering the party in the right direction, adding value to APC by drawing upon all useful opinions and keeping up with the times as well as allowing the interests of members to guide his actions”.
The leaders urged Timi Frank and his sponsors to return to the path of good reason and Godliness.
“Nobody chased Muhammadu Buhari from ANPP. The truth which Timi Frank knows but cannot publicly admit is that the former vice president does not control the structure of the ruling party”
The leaders called on Nigerians not to be deceived by Frank’s blackmail.
“Chief Odigie-Oyegun is a strong believer in the rule of law. He is against all forms of manipulations, intimidations and imposition of candidates. Timi Frank and his sponsors are misleading the public. They don’t mean well for the country and the ruling party”

Buhari is a big roadblock in Atiku’s way – South-South leaders
- Praise Oyegun for curbing impunity in the ruling party
Prominent leaders in the South-South geo-political zone on Tuesday defended the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They also praised the National Chairman of the ruling party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for providing good leadership, curbing impunity in the party and thinking of the interest of all.
In a statement in Yenegoa, the leaders said internal democracy and respect for the party’s constitution contributed greatly to the electoral fortune of the party at the various levels.
The leaders eulogized Oyegun for building the country’s ruling party.
“Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a pragmatic leader. He is making a difference in the ruling party” the leaders said.
Signed by the chairman, South-South Front (SSF), Chief John Harry, the leaders commended the national chairman for his zero tolerance for impunity and corruption.
They said former vice president Atiku Abubakar left the ruling party because of his personal ambition.
“Atiku Abubakar didn’t quit APC because of the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire APC leadership. He is itching for one last shot on the Nigerian political stage and President Buhari has become an electoral powerhouse and a big roadblock in his way” the leaders said.
They tongue-lashed Suspended Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Timi Frank and his sponsors on their apparent disregard for party supremacy and insufficient knowledge of the rudiments of democracy.
“Timi Frank is a mole and a political weather vane obsessed with the ambition of his mentor. He has no electoral value in Bayelsa State”.
The leaders were particularly piqued by the recent press statement where Frank launched a vitriolic attack on the party’s national leadership.
They advised Frank and his sponsors to stop behaving like a pack of juveniles.
“Governors, National Assembly members and other known party leaders will not quit the ruling party” the leaders added.
